Next Innovation Master Class starts Wed 27th March in Peregian Beach

The next Innovation Master Class will run at the Peregian Beach Digital Hub with a series of four half-day workshops plus a Showcase event running from 27 March to 15 May 2019.

The Innovation Master Class is an applied business development program aimed at owner manager of small and mid sized businesses in the Noosa and Sunshine Coast council areas.

The program will help you to understand how innovation can grow your business - and increase profits and impact – and provides you with the knowledge, practical tools and support to help identify and implement new opportunities for your business.

Cost

$495 plus GST

Early bird rate of $395 plus GST for bookings before 5pm, Friday 15 March 2019.

This special price is enabled by investment by our supporters - Noosa Council, Advance Queensland and SCRIPT - the market value of this course is over $2,000.

Fee includes: four workshops, showcase session, one-on-one implementation session, course workbook and event catering including light lunch.

Workshops: 27 Mar, 3 Apr, 1 May and 8 May 2019

Final Showcase session: 15 May 2019.

Timing for all sessions: 8.15am arrival for 8.30am start. Finish at 12 noon, followed by a light lunch.

Course Content

SESSION 1

  • Introducing innovation and opportunities for your organisation

  • Defining innovation, overall approach, thinking strategically, different types of Innovation.

 SESSION 2

  • Developing your ideas

  • Mindset, idea generation and evaluation, business model innovation.

SESSION 3

  • Model behaviour - working differently

  • Business model innovation (2), lean startup, implementation pyramid.

SESSION 4

  • Making it happen, making time for innovation, overcoming barriers

  • Focus on implementation, prepare and practice final Showcase presentations.

SHOWCASE SESSION

  • Participants make a brief - 5 minutes - presentation on their business direction and opportunities for innovation.

  • Small invited audience of business and community leaders offer ideas, input and connections.

  • Presentation helps participants to pull ideas together and drives progress.

FOLLOW UP MEETING

  • A one-to-one follow up session - up to 90 minutes - with Colin Graham to focus on implementation of ideas and plans generated through the course.

Course Facilitators

The program is jointly facilitated by Colin Graham and Sandra Arico.

Colin Graham

Colin is the founder of Causeway Innovation and was previously the founding CEO of the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast. He has worked with over 300 startups, SMEs and corporates with a focus on business development through innovation. Colin is also Course Facilitator for the New Venture Planning course in the Executive MBA program at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Colin’s business career started in London where he became International Product Manager for Dulux before moving on to be the co-founder and CEO of Yellowbrick Training & Development with SME and corporate clients such as IBM, Unilever and Deloitte in the UK, Canada and USA.

In recent years, Colin has worked with owner managers of SMEs across Australia and a wide range of sectors including food and agribusiness, tourism, health and wellbeing, ICT, environment, creative and professional services.

Sandra Arico

Sandra has been described as an enabler, a connector and a catalyst for change. 

Graduating from RMIT with an Entrepreneurship degree and an events-based start-up, she was scouted by the CEO of Deloitte Digital to help drive innovation in a conservative professional services firm.

Sandra’s success at Deloitte, followed by an extraordinary year living in the Guatemalan jungle, laid the foundations for a distinctive career working across the innovation ecosystem. 

Her experience spans public sector, corporate, education, SMEs and start-ups, where she has consistently brought vision, creativity and an ability to make ideas happen.

In 2018, Sandra left her role as Global Head of Innovation at Swisse Wellness to move to the Sunshine Coast, where she is focused on enabling innovation and economic growth across the region.  

She is currently Head of Innovation and Growth at HeliMods, President of Innovate Noosa, and a Mentor at the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast.
